Home Page
This is the first page visitors will
see when they go to your site and
first impressions are everything.
This page will need to contain
content on what they will find
throughout your site.
Give short, informative information
about your company, products and
services with links to pages for
each. Your home page needs to be
helpful, uncluttered,. and easy to
navigate. You WANT people to
be interested in checking out the
rest of your site.
About The Company
Give them the history of your
company and your accomplishments. If
this is a new company, tell them how
excited you are in your new
endeavor. You could put bios of
personnel that make your company
strong or ones in key positions for
different departments. You could
have general contact information
with links to pages for each one.
About Us
Here your could include your company
goals or mission statement. You may
want to add bios of key personnel
with their education background,
accomplishments and a portfolio of
their past work experience.
Products
Display photos or your products and
services along with a short
description. These can be used as
links to more detailed information
and photos describing your products,
I.E. color, size, material, ect.
Make sure that your pictures show
only the item featured as people
will expect to receive more than
what your offering.
Services
If your company is service oriented,
give a brief description of each
service you provide with links to
pages that go into more detail.
These can also be grouped into
different categories that each have
their own page.
Catalogue
Provide an online catalogue with
links to each product containing a
more detailed description and
pictures of that particular item.
This is great if you have along of
items you want to sell online. A
catalogue however does take time to
get together but it is well worth
the effort.
What's New
This is a great place to display and
offer new products or services. You
need to keep this page up to date so
customers will continue to come back
to see your new items. This is also
a great place to keep people
informed about your company status
and any new developments happening
within.
Testimonials - References
List companies or individuals that
use your products and services. Use
quotes from customers parsing your
company and the products and
services you offer. |
|
Contact
Give all forms of contact that you
wish to use like email, phone and
address. You may want to list
contact information for different
departments here as well. You could
include an email contact form for
customers to fill out and send to
you with any questions they may
have.
Ordering Information
Explain your ordering process and
how they can obtain your products
and services. Use an email order
form or for some who don't have a
credit card, a downloadable form
that they can mail in. Give them
your payment options and any other
information needed to purchase your
items.
Graphics & Images
This one isn't meant to be a link
but talks more about the quality of
the images and graphics that are
needed for your site. Make sure you
have large, clear images and
graphics that show lots of detail.
There's nothing worse than a fuzzy
picture that your customers won't be
able to see clearly.
Use pictures of just the product or
service your providing. You don't
want to mislead anyone into thinking
they are getting more than the
actual product.
You should have your logo ready in
digital format. If not, make sure
you provide one on plain white paper
that's easy to scan. Things like
cleaning up graphics and images can
start to add up cost wise so be
prepared to pay extra.
If you have lots of products with no
pictures, it's sometimes more cost
effective to go buy a reasonable
priced digital camera and do them
yourself. You will also have the use
of the camera and be able to use it
as a tax right off for your
business.
Get one that has at least a 4
megapixal rating as the pictures
come out more crisp and clearer.
Your images need to be in either
GIF
or
JPG
format as these display best and are
accepted by all browser formats and
computers.
Text Content
All your text should be in
electronic form and in the order of
the pages you will have on your
site. Most design companies charge
extra to type up your content from
printed form. Make sure it has been
checked for accuracy as this will
cost you more to fix once it has
been posted on your site.
Make notes at the bottom of each
pages text to let the designer know
where you would like each picture
and elevates any confusion to where
you want the pictures place on your
page. |
